Any hope Danny Cipriani had of an England recal for the 2020 Six Nations is ruled out for around six to eight weeks with a torn calf.
The mercurial number 10 went off injured in Heineken Champions Cup win over Montpellier.
Head coach Johan Ackermann said: “It’s not nice to lose any player through injury, especially Danny, he’s a quality player.”
The Cherry and Whites could also lose fly-half Owen Williams during the Six Nations period after he was named in Wales’ Six Nations squad today.
