Jonny Wilkinson names rugby stadium he loved visiting most as you got ‘more respect’ than anywhere else

Jonny Wilkinson has identified three stadiums where he experienced the most electrifying atmosphere during his illustrious career, and notably absent from his list is his cherished Twickenham.

The esteemed Premiership icon represented Newcastle Falcons from 1997 to 2009, amassing an impressive tally of 2,049 points for his inaugural professional team.

Despite his deep connection with the Falcons, their home ground failed to secure a spot in Wilkinson’s top three for atmospheric venues.

Check out the quartet of stadiums he singled out during a Q&A session conducted back in 2017.

#3. Stade de France (France)

Perhaps not the best situated stadium, but it sure has a great view. It’s atmosphere can be a help and a hindrance for Les Bleus.

When France are on the front foot, it can generate a great atmosphere but it can also inspire the opposition when they’re not.

Wilkinson said: “‘Whenever I played there on every occasion, the atmosphere was fantastic.”
