Tony Blair has thanked outgoing BBC rugby correspondent Ian Robertson for giving him an essential tool to survive in politics.
The former Prime Minister joined up with Jonny Wilkinson, subject of Robertson’s most iconic piece of commentary, to mark the retirement of one of broadcasting’s most recognisable voices.
Robertson calls his final match after 47 years at the Beeb at Twickenham on Saturday, when England face Australia.
His former pupil Tony Blair spoke for us all when saying: “Mr Robertson, you really are one of the greats.”
