Being a referee in any sport is hard but rugby union, in particular, can be extremely difficult due to the number of laws and excessive physicality.
Joy Neville, who refereed the Women’s Rugby World Cup final in August, however, broke new ground in December when became the first woman to officiate a European professional club.
