Gregor Townsend Names Scotland’s 41-Man Training Squad for 2023 Rugby World Cup

Gregor Townsend has announced his 41-man wider training squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. The Scotland Head Coach was confirmed today to be staying with the national side until 2026, and took no time in confirming his preparation squad for this September’s Rugby World Cup.

This Scotland squad will also compete in the upcoming Famous Grouse Nations Series. These World Cup warm-up matches act as the last opportunity for Scotland’s fringe players, to put their hands up for selection ahead of the trip to France. The Scotland wider training squad was announced today on the official social media channels.

Scotland are set for two run-ins with the 2023 Rugby World Cup hosts, as well as clashes with Italy and Georgia. Scotland’s Famous Grouse Nations Series begins on Saturday 29th July against the Azzurri, before France head to BT Murrayfield on the 5th August.

Gregor Townsend’s men then make the trip to St Etienne for the return clash with ‘Les Bleus’ on the 12th August. Scotland’s last stop on the road to the 2023 RWC are Six Nations hopefuls Georgia, who are looking to impress for Tier One rugby recognition.
