The staggering salary Montpellier are ready to offer CJ Stander to move to French giants

Ireland and Lions star CJ Stander has been linked with a multi-million-pound move to French heavyweights Montpellier.

The Irish Examiner is reporting that French Top 14 side Montpellier will test the South African-born player’s commitment to both Munster and Irish rugby.

They are said to be ready to offer the 27-year-old a head-turning €840,000 (about £750,000) a year deal to make the move across the Channel to Altrad Stadium.

Since joining Munster a little over five years ago, Stander has become a key player for both for his province and his new adopted country, winning 18 caps for Ireland and also toured New Zealand with the Lions.

Sources maintain Stander would ideally want to stay with Munster, but the IRFU are reportedly only willing to put €400,000 plus incentives on the table.
